Stadium

I would have loved to go to a Real Madrid soccer game, but a tour of the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium did me well.

That is a trophy, don't worry its just gigantic.

I loved this tour it was totally worth it to me. There is so much history on the tour as well as pictures and trophies.... and if you think a few trophies is all, your wrong. There are rooms and hallways filled with trophies. Even if you aren't a crazy soccer fan this tour is still amazing, especially seeing the stadium, it is unbelievable. Also there is a metro stop right next to the stadium, so convenient.

Streets

The streets of Madrid were so fun to walk along. There is so much character in the buildings and the cobblestone street to top it all off. I couldn't help but look up as I walked every street, I had to keep soaking it all up.

Sweets

Let's be honest I'm a softy for sweets, and Spain had quite the assortment of them. Every street corner had windows to beacon us. Mother and I are just lucky we walked all day every day while there to work off the sweets.

I had my first Macaroon in Spain and let me just say it was not a bad place to start my addiction. Lets be honest I pretty much loved every pastry I tried.

Also, pastries make for a great mid morning or afternoon snack while touring the city.

Madrid: Royal Palace

We stopped by the royal palace while in madrid. It was Amazing! The inside was Beautiful and Extravagant, very over the top. Unfortunately you aren't allowed to take any pictures inside, but we have a few of us outside of the palace to prove we were there. I definitely recommend his Palace tour. We bought an audio guide for 3 dollars, I personally don't think that everyone in the party needs their own personally audio guide. I listened to it and then explained all the cool dets to mom and dad. Worked well for us.

Madrid: Plaza Mayor

Right next to the Mercado de San Miguel is Plaza Mayor. Pretty cool square to grab something to eat drink, and look at the architecture. Lots of students and tour groups go through here. Also makes for some pretty cool pics.

Madrid: Mercado de San Miguel

Day 2 started out with a trusty metro ride to the Mercado de San Miguel. Let me tell you it did not disappoint. In fact I wanted to eat everything that was there and almost did.

Fresh Fruit. Can we talk about the Strawberries, Raspberries, and the oh so young Asparagus. To. Die. For.

Jamon. Thinly sliced cured pig, often put on a baguette. I know it sounds crazy but I loved it.



In my hand I hold only the the tastiest yogurt I've ever had. Mango topping with a Blackberries at the bottom it was delicious. Also my dad is hold a bowl of Paella, anyone else had? It's crazy good and I was left with a craving for it.

Most people would look at he Hamburger and say you are an idiot for getting a hamburger in Span, but to them I say shame on you. That hamburger was the best darn hamburger I've ever had in my life so tender it basically melted in my mouth. Father is hold the cured pig I was talking about, like I said SOO much better than I had expected.

Mercado de San Miguel, awesome place to grab quality food, huge variety and it's all so good. Definitely a place to stop by in Spain. Not to mention the glass building was quite nice to look at.

Madrid: day 1

Our first stop in Madrid started with a metro ride over to the Temple Debod. It ended up being closed due to Spain's version of our holiday "Father's day" so we couldn't walk through the main temple, none the less we took a walk around the site. The Temple Debod has amazing views which I'm sure we would be wonderful for the sunset.

And we course couldn't pass up the first pastry shop we saw. The pastries in Spain are to die for. You can't eat less then 3 day, definitely a rule that everyone must follow...

The first night for dinner, we just happened to stumble upon an amazing pizza restaurant. Seriously sooo good, the sauce is not like your typical sauce you'd get on a slice of pizza here. It's like fresh tomato's on your pizza, obviously my words don't do this pizza justice. Besides the pizza we started off with an awesome Caesar salad topped with some tasty cheese. And not mention dessert was Gelato, it was the simple flavors of a Chocolate scoop & Vanilla scoop... none the less it was the best Gelato I've ever had.

And not to mention there are about a Bagillion statues in Madrid, you'll be sure to find one at every corner you turn. They obviously make for great photo-op moments... clearly.

So there you have day one, we spent most of the day trying to get our bearings and figure out where everything was and where we wanted to spend our time. We were smart enough to buy a 10 ride metro pass and the was the best idea we had the whole. I definitely suggest you use the metro in Madrid it's convenient and so easy to figure out as well as gets you everywhere you want to be.

Travel Plans....

I'm going to Madrid Spain. Words can't describe how excited I am. I've dreamed of going here ever since I was a little girl playing soccer, mesmerized by the Real Madrid soccer team. And now I can't believe I am actually going, in fact it doesn't seem real yet. Also me and mother may have spent a few hours at Barnes and noble last nigh reading up on Madrid, Rick Steve's travel book on Spain was quite helpful I highly recommend it.

We are making a quick stop here before we head to Madrid and I'm quite excited for a few things. Those being the shopping, Blue Bell ice cream, and the ever so delicious Chic-Fil-A. On that note just so you are all aware, you haven't lived until you've had blue bell ice cream and also our family has a sick obsession with Chic-Fil-A.
