ATL: Day 2

Yesterday we went to Chick-Fil-A headquarters and met up with my father in law's friend who was going to give us a tour. As we drove up to the entrance my breath was taken away by how beautiful the property is. It is set in the middle of trees and you take a nature path from the parking lot to the entrance. We were given a histroy lesson on how Chick-Fil-A was started. Towards the end of the tour we got to see the car collection which was neat. My favorite car in the collection: The Batmobile. After our tour we went down to the cafeteria where they offer the employees FREE lunch everyday (and their guests) It was a full on buffet with anything you would ever want. They also have a complete gym next to the cafeteria. Overall it seems like a fantastic company to work for who really values their employees. {I know there is a current Chick-Fil-A controversy and that some refuse to support their company. I however, love Chick-Fil-A because I LOVE their food. I also feel that everyone has the right to their opinion/beliefs whatever side they may be on and that we should respect and love one another.}

 After our Chick-Fil-A tour we did some more shopping at Marshalls and found some fabulous finds. Then we made our way into Downtown Atlanta and our first stop was the World of Coca-Cola. In here you can learn all about how coca-cola was started, watch a 4D movie, see the CocaCola polar bear, and taste different coke products from around the world. That was definitely the highlight. There were some seriously nasty drink flavors and some suprisingly good ones.

 Across the street from the World of Coca Cola is the Georgia Aquarium. Apparently it has been recently re-vamped. It is super nice inside and had some great exhibits including penguins, beluga whales, whale sharks, otters, and much much more. Mia loved all of the fishies and we even found Nemo! {a clownfish}

What a great day 2 in the ATL! Can't wait for Nicole to join us. She is enroute to ATL as we speak!

Last week my aunt sent my mom this email.

We have become a nation of protesting and litigious people. It used to be that if one didn't like how a business operated, you didn't go there. It was the strongest form of protest and if enough people didn't go there, the business did not survive. Where do we come off now trying to change how successful private business operates by means of slander, yellow journalism, rumors and innuendoes just because we might not agree with their operating philosophy? The concept of majority rules is being over-ridden by who can make the most noise.

Now the Socialists (AKA Obama Democrats) have targeted Chick-Fil-A. A Southern based company with the below resume.. See below. Chick-fil-A is an American success story. Founded by Georgian entrepreneur Truett Cathy in 1946, the family-owned chicken-sandwich chain is one of the country's largest fast-food businesses. It employs some 50,000 workers across the country at 1,500 outlets in nearly 40 states and the District of Columbia ... The company generates more than $2 billion in revenue and serves millions of happy customers with trademark Southern hospitality. So, what's the problem? Well, Chick-fil-A is run by devout Christians who believe in strong marriages, devoted families, and the highest standards of character for their workers. The restaurant chain's official corporate mission is to "glorify God" and "enrich the lives of everyone we touch." The company's community-service initiatives, funded through its WinShape Foundation, support foster-care, scholarship, summer-camp, and marriage-enrichment programs. On Sunday, all Chick-fil-A stores close so workers can spend the day at worship and rest. Over the past month, several progressive-activist blogs have waged an ugly war against Chick-fil-A. The company's alleged atrocity: One of its independent outlets in Pennsylvania donated some sandwiches and brownies to a marriage seminar run by the Pennsylvania Family Institute, which happens to oppose same-sex marriage. In the name of tolerance, the anti-Chick-fil-A hawks sneered at the company's main product as "Jesus Chicken," derided its no-Sunday-work policy, and attacked its operators as "anti-gay." Petition drives on websites are demanding the company change and disavow their standards. Facebook users dutifully organized witch hunts against the company on college campuses. Progressive groups are gloating over Chick-fil-A's public-relations troubles. This is not because they care about winning hearts and minds over gay rights or marriage policy, but because their core objective is to marginalize political opponents and chill Christian philanthropy and activism. The fearsome "muscle flexing" is being done by the hysterical bullies trying to drive them off of college grounds and out of their neighborhoods in the name of "human rights." Sometimes I don't understand people, it's like they are searching for ways to be offeneded. It's kind of sad actually. Personally I think if you are a private business like Chick-Fil-A that makes billions of dollars you should be able to do whatever you want with that money (well within reason obviously) I mean really people if they want to donate food to a marriage seminar why should we stop them? I sometimes just get so confused with the world these days? I don't understand what is wrong with a company that prides themselves on amazing service. If somebody doesn't agree with that, why don't they go and get food at another restaurant instead? See how I'm little confused by all this.
But what I do know is that I will go eat at Chick-Fil-A and let them know I appreciate there great service.
